Dear Mr Apthorp,

I fear it will be impossible for Pen to leave the house to-day—his cold being none the better for last night’s dissipation. How do you decide? Would Willy prefer taking his ride to-morrow, when Pen may, we hope, be quite able to accompany him,—or will he take advantage of this fine day? If so, I will let the appointment with John remain.
