As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 27, 278.

Rome, Via del Tritone 28.

Apr. 17. ’60.

Dear Chapman,

We received your packet of books [1] so nicely that we want you to send us six more by the same conveyance.

We see you duly sent the note to the “Ath:” [2] which that respectable journal would not insert for reasons of its own:—have also seen the Saturday Review, Blackwood, Atlas & Daily News. What a row! Have you sold any or many copies? Tell us all the news.

Ever yours sincerely,

Robert Browning.

Please send, too, the April number of that Spiritualist Magazine thing.

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.

1. The copies of Poems Before Congress requested in letter 4617.

2. Letter 4629.
