As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 28, 262.
[Rome]
Friday Morning. [ca. January 1861] [1]
Dear Edie,
I was so stupid as to forget two Galignanis last night—those of Wednesday & Thursday: would you have the goodness to give them to the Servant?—who also returns certain articles you have kindly lent us.
Yours affectionately
Robert Browning.
Publication: None traced.
Manuscript: Eton College Library, Michael Meredith Collection.
1. Approximate dating suggested by the mourning stationery, on which the letter is written. RB used mourning stationery in December 1860 and January 1861, following the death of EBB’s sister Henrietta.
