As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 29, 186.

Florence,

18 July ’61.

My dear Surtees– Thank you from my heart—you can feel for me indeed. I have told all I can to Arabel & George & you will have heard enough. I am going to leave Florence in a week, not to return for many years: I shall see you in England—soon, I trust.

God bless you & your dear children: my boy is well and very dear.

Yours affectionately

Robert Browning
