Dear Browning,

It is with great satisfaction that I hear of your amiable boy’s recovery. Sandford has paid 10£– 5s for expenses of walling-in my grave. Surely my son Arnold will not hesitate to refund this trifle, giving you an order for it. I beg of you to write to him on the subject. He knows that it is the only favour he ever can confer on his infirm and wretched father. I feel so ill that I can only add I am your ever obliged and affectionate
