My dear Ruskin,

I will be at the National Gallery,—that is, under the Portico of the Entrance to the Old Masters—next Friday at 5, [2] —since you choose to make such an entire pleasure of the arrangement: you shall give me a sandwich with my tea, if you will—&, (unless the weather be bad,—in which case, let Monday bring me amends) I expect to be as happy as you wish. [3]

1. This letter is clearly a reply to letter 5068.

2. i.e., on the 23rd.

3. Presumably, RB was unable to keep this appointment after spraining his ankle on the 22nd (see letter 5071).
