Dear Sir,

There are no “reliable particulars” in the many memorials that have appeared [1] —nor can I refer you to anything better.

I have no objection certainly to your doing what so many have done,—you possess really as much information as the greater part of them, and cannot well mistake more than they: but you say kind & touching things and are qualified to catch indications of character from the deliberate “works”—books, of any person.

The poems which appeared in the “Independent” are all re-published in England. [2]
