Of course, your “doleful dumps” (not to say, being “forced to fight upon your stumps” to go on with the verse) [1] afflicted me, and, I hope, always would: in like manner, I “rejoice with you who do rejoice”. [2] Will you come next Sunday at six, & eat of my usual dish? With nobody else, of course, & we’ll talk & be happy–
