My dear Chorley,

You know what I have heard of, [1] and what I would say if I could. I feel your loving and unwearied heart, and can hardly hope to speak with success of suffering at an end, and peace & hope after hopeless trouble: but I am sure you are strong, and can counsel for yourself, you who have always acted so nobly in that relation—(even I have been witness to that much)—and your own feelings will help you now.

I hear this news on returning to England.
