This will introduce to you a very charming & accomplished Lady, [1] the daughter of Sir James Mackintosh. I say no more, because I probably shall have written before this arrives. I know you will do any little thing in your power. [2]

2. RB’s letter of introduction to Isa was not presented, although the Wedgwoods stopped in Florence (see the second paragraph in letter 5457). Their trip to Italy was cut short, after reaching Rome, by the illness of the eldest son, James Mackintosh Wedgwood (1834–64).
