May I beg your indulgence for venturing to ask a favour of you?

I cannot remember the name of the Lady to whom you introduced me, [2] and by whose side I sate at dinner last Tuesday. The last syllable, I know, was “grave” but for what precedes I must be indebted to your kindness: she did me the honour of desiring me to call at “Rutland Gate” which I cannot at present do.

Pray forgive the trouble, which my carelessness gives you, and believe me
