Correspondence

5382.  RB to Julia Wedgwood

As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 31, 57.

[London]

Tuesday Eg. [?17] [May 1864] [1]

My dear Miss Wedgwood,

I shall only repeat, though unnecessarily, that if I can ever be found capable of the least use to you, it will make me glad & grateful indeed. I daresay that I have managed to give you a notion that the distance between your house and mine is formidable: the time of the journey from door to door cannot exceed twenty minutes, by railway. [2]

Faithfully yours ever

Robert Browning.

Publication: RB-JW, p. 25.

Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.

1. Conjectural dating based on the probability that RB is replying to letter 5380.

2. i.e., the underground railway (see letter 5186, note 7).
