1. The recipient of this letter was probably Caroline Reinagle (née Orger, 1818–92), composer and pianist, who set to music RB’s “The Worst of It” (Dramatis Personæ, 1864) sometime between the publication date of Dramatis Personæ and his return from his summer holiday (see letter 5530).
