I am requested by the Committee of the W, J, Fox Memorial to enclose you the accompanying statement, and list of Subscriptions– [1]

1. Except for RB’s name, this is a printed circular letter that accompanied a list of subscribers.

2. Sydney Hedley Waterlow (1822–1906), printer and philanthropist, belonged to W.J. Fox’s South Place Chapel and, according to the ODNB, was “greatly influenced” by his teaching. Waterlow “was elected alderman of Langbourn ward” in 1863 (ODNB).

3. Thomas Gilks (1814–77), wood-engraver and illustrator.
