I daresay you will have received my Paris letter, telling you that I am not to be at home for some weeks, & asking you next Sunday or when you are in that region to pay my mother a visit instead of me. She will be so glad to see you.– I am glad to think of you at home again—home is a word, however, which you will hardly accept as being relevant here, I fear—or for the rest of your pilgrimage. I can so well imagine how each return seems more purposeless than the last. Ah how long life is!

I am here till Friday 21st, whether I care for your letters I believe you know pretty well, but I daresay you will be busier now you are returned to London, & I hardly expect to have them often.
