My dear Sir
I have deferred from day to day, sending your Stamps, in the expectation that I might hear again from you concerning “the Will”: meantime, I have learnt that my Uncle’s second Son, Walter, has “taken out the Will,” which he says he does not understand & knows not how to carry into affect: he applies to my Sister, whom he supposes to be the sole Legatee, to know what he is to do: I have advised her to refer him to Mr Robert Landor, to whom I have also written, stating our wishes. As there seems an inclination on the part of our Cousins in Italy to fulfil their Father’s wishes I trust there will be no difficulty & little trouble in doing so.
If you have not already taken any steps concerning the large Picture sent by my Uncle for Mr Linton, [2] wld you kindly keep it a little longer. I think it may be expedient to mention it to my Uncle Robert. I have never done so yet, because it seemed needless & only likely to give annoyance, but I yesterday found a letter which causes me to think it may be advisable to keep it a little longer. I hope you & your Son continue well. My Uncle Henry, I am sorry to say, is far from well, at present, but I am sure he joins me in kindest regards to you. The Piano continues to give pleasure. I hope you will find the Stamps right & in convenient form. Believe me ever
