Dear Mr Browning–
A look at enclosed Correspondence will show you why I have decided not to go further in the matter of the Gray Memorial. I wish I had had the advice sooner—for your sake as well as my own.— But I never intended to make mine a “Charity Book”—in any sense of the words.
I trust to see you again some day, & to talk of this and other matters. Meantime, wont you give me a line to say you dont think I have been humbugging you?
