2. The Shilling Magazine, edited by Samuel Lucas, was advertised in The Athenæum of 8 April 1865 (no. 1954, p. 480). A list of prospective contributors included A.H. Layard, Harriet Martineau, and Thomas Henry Huxley. RB’s name was listed between George Meredith and Christina Rossetti.
