My dear Browning
Many warm thanks for the highly valued present of your works from yourself;—one of my first and best delights, coming back to me now with an addition of delightfulness which would have been the very crown of it all, could I have foreseen it in those early days when one makes choice of one’s gods.
I have told the frame-maker to send you his account for the little frame– The inexcusable delay with the others [1] has partly resulted from an unwillingness on my part to get such large work done except by some one who would not greatly overcharge you; and such an one is not so easily found as I hoped. I now write with this to Morris, who may probably be the best man–
I believe my friend Howell, whom I wrote you about before and who is the very best of young fellows (half English half Portuguese) would still esteem it a great boon to call on you– But if this is not thoroughly convenient to you (as I know it may not be at all times,) I will not encourage him in it. Were he to come, he would take his chance of finding you in and disengaged.
