5659. RB to Frederic Chapman
As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 32, 20–21.
[London]
Wednesday. [?8] [November 1865] [1]
My dear Frederick,
I shall call in the course of the morning, to talk over a matter or two, but will lose no time in saying that I think Mr Saddler’s [2] production extraordinarily good,—he has more than answered my best expectations[.]
Yours ever truly
R Browning
Publication: None traced.
Manuscript: Armstrong Browning Library.
1. Dating suggested by RB’s mention of “Mr Saddler’s production”; that is, the engraving of Mignaty’s painting of the drawing room at Casa Guidi (see letter 5654).
2. John Saddler (1813–92), line engraver, who reproduced the Mignaty painting and the Artaud drawing of EBB for A Selection from the Poetry of Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1866).
