My dear Mrs Forster,

I was unexpectedly prevented calling on you yesterday—I meant to ask about many things, and to say a few.– I trust your Husband is better: I had one of his kind notes on Saturday. He bids me go to you next Wednesday, and I shall do so with the customary pleasure. Yes—I was indeed vexed that you forewent the great sight of the Owl: [1] why did you not go in and pay your respects to him, however? He is above being surprised at a visitor.
