My dear Conway,

I will go to you very gladly on Tuesday: I quite deserve that it should seem as if the bait of the Carlyles were the determining power in this case,—so often have you asked me to visit you, and so often have I all but done that really-intended thing: it is a good sign however that I somehow think that you will understand how circumstances have been too hard on me, after all.
