I can’t tell you how it vexes me that I seem to have as little chance of getting in time to Westminster on Wednesday as I had last Friday—when I found it impossible to leave the place where I was pre-engaged. To-morrow I dine in a still more remote quarter: if I can profit by a lucky opportunity, be sure I will do so; otherwise, you must understand my regret, and forgive me.
