My dear Ruskin,

You have a right to think I don’t care to take the trouble of going to you—if you waive a poet’s instinctive knowledge: I can’t help myself, and had sent off an acceptance of an invitation for Tuesday hardly a minute before this—when I get and lament over your note. I go to Paris for a week, in a day or two—afterward?
