1. Unidentified. The above is written on the back of an admission ticket, which reads: “1227 No 2666. Not Transferable. / This Ticket Admits / Robert Browning. Esq. / 19 Warwick Crescent. W. / to the READING ROOM of the / british museum, / For the Term of Six Months / From the 22 day of March [sic, for October] 1866.”

The printing on the back of the ticket, including the signature in RB’s hand, reads: “This Ticket should not be allowed to go out of the owner’s / possession; it must be produced if asked for at the / Museum; and should be preserved for renewal or re- / turned if no longer required. / N.B. Readers are not, under any circumstances, to take / Book or ms out of the Reading Room. / Reader’s Signature Robert Browning.”
