It has I fear, appeared rude to Mr Milsand [2] that I have not yet waited upon him– I’ve been kept at home by toothache & general wretchedness—but I’m coming over to morrow afternoon—I so hope to find you both that I am thus impertinent in telling you so before—but if you were necessarily going anywhere I[’]ll come every day till I find you, and

2. Milsand had called on Ruskin earlier. On 12 November, Milsand wrote to his wife: “I went to see Ruskin, whom I was fortunate to meet. He lives a fair distance from London in a sort of park. He also gave the best of welcomes, and let me see some of his curiosities. I found him very agreeable, but he is obviously ailing in body and mind” (ms at ABL/JMA).
