I shall be very happy to call to-morrow and have the honor of seeing Lady Waterford. [2] Only, you are not to fear so inordinately long a visit as my selfishness inflicted on your patience the other day,—as I must keep an early engagement elsewhere.

1. Lady Constance Harriet Mahonesa Kerr (née Chetwynd-Talbot, 1836–1901), Marchioness of Lothian, daughter of Henry Chetwynd-Talbot (1803–68), 18th Earl of Shrewsbury, and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth (née Beresford, 1807–84).
2. Presumably Christiana Beresford (née Leslie, 1827–1905), widow of John De la Poer Beresford (1814–66), 4th Marquess of Waterford. But possibly Louisa Beresford (née Stuart, 1818–91), Dowager Marchioness of Waterford, widow of Henry De la Poer Beresford (1811–59), 3rd Marquess of Waterford. Both Lady Waterford and Dowager Lady Waterford were Lady Lothian’s aunts by marriage.
