1. Presumably, relating to RB’s forthcoming M.A. degree from Oxford. Arnold graduated B.A. from Balliol, Oxford, in 1844, was elected a Fellow of Oriel College, Oxford, in 1853, and held the professorship of poetry at Oxford from 1857 to 1867.
