Correspondence

5941.  RB to Edward Rowden

As published in The Brownings’ Correspondence, 32, 228.

The Athenæum

July 15. ’67.

My dear Sir,

All thanks for your kind note: I return you the letter, pretty much as I wrote it first, with one or two unimportant changes of a word. It runs now glibly enough &, I fancy, may pass for correct. I should not be so nervous another time.

I beg pardon for the misdirection—which arose from my blundering in the Oxford Calendar.

Ever yours most truly

Robert Browning.

Publication: None traced.

Manuscript: Wellesley College.
