My dear Browning

I hope that the way to good manners is never too late. I have left all too long unthanked your kind and most welcome letter (welcome in all but the news of your departure)– But it found me still in bed suffering from the effects of a second operation, and unable to write. Since then every hour of my time has been cut to pieces.– And the pieces like those of a mangled polype have been running away in opposite directions. My new book of verse wh will I believe be out in October I have asked Chapman to send you. Have you read Arnold’s new vol? I suppose he has sent it you. But I have not yet seen it. With Ediths best love to you both, and my own most affectionate & respectful Greetings to your Sister
