My dear Sir,

I am pleased to think that you are again going to read Catullus. I even hope you will examine the metrical theory, on which I have written an Essay of some length and which gave me a good deal of trouble.

I shall have much pleasure in reading with your son. He could come to me three times a week beginning next Tuesday week (Dec. 31) Mr Jowett said he had better do Thucydides and Latin Prose. In that case he might begin Book IV, unless he prefers any other. But on that point I will write to him again before I see him, as I ought to talk with Broughton first. Him I shall see on Xmas day, and I hope to settle the matter definitely then.

I have just seen Broughton; he says your son had only got to the speech of the Corinthians in Book I. [1] In that case he may as well go on there: he may also do for Latin Prose the pieces I send.
