Dear Mr Smith,

You seem not to have got, at the time of writing your note yesterday, the proofs which were either posted at the “Athenæum”, or dropped into your box on Sunday evening: I dare say they are come to hand by this time,—still I may as well send the duplicates along with the new ones. Nothing can be better than the look of the book to my unlearned eyes: and the printing is capital: The minute corrections, nine out of ten, merely oversights of my own.

I said in a word that went with the other proofs, that a revise can hardly be necessary, with such exemplary printers to make the trifling alterations.
