Dear Mr Browning
We hope one or two of our friends will be with us on Thursday evening the 13th (8 o’clock), and proud and pleased we should be if you especially would accept our welcome and our cup of tea.
Pray accept this with my Mother’s compliments and believe me
Sincerely yours

1. The 13th of February fell on a Thursday in 1868 and 1873, the only two times it did so during Christina Rossetti’s occupancy at 56 Euston Square. By 1873, her ill health (she was diagnosed with Graves’s disease the year before) would have precluded the entertaining of guests.
