1. Mary Ann Smith (née Crump, 1815–1900), daughter of James Crump of Birmingham, married in 1834 William Smith (1813–93), classical and biblical scholar, who edited The Quarterly Review from 1867 “until his death” (ODNB). Smith and RB attended the same Greek class when they were students at London University (see The Times of 14 December 1889, p. 9).
