My dear Sir,
You must like to know that the Beddoes’ papers, have reached me to day—very safely in your securely guarded packet—all quite right. I have also your letter of this morning—most agreeable, like its predecessors,—& marked by the same generosity & kindness.
Before long I shall command a good opportunity for sending you the portrait [1] —& with it I will put some more mss—for I can still supply various copies & versions which you will like to see & embracing personal details, & unpublished letters, of much interest. This parcel will reach you certainly this month—probably in 10 days or a fortnight—& will be left at your present residence– I will then also write you in apprisal.
It is curious that mathematical Cambridge shod have so long, & so much, surpassed Oxford as a nurse of poets. The balance however is being redressed in our time by some good weights thrown in at University, Pembroke, & now Balliol.
