Offered for sale in Sotheby’s Catalogue, 5 July 1900, lot 102. 1 p., 4to., signed “E. B. Barrett.” “I never thought until this morning, but indeed I did think this morning, & meant to have acted on the thought of the omission yesterday. Let me thank you for the letters you were so kind as to lend me, & which I was so wrong not to return to you. They gave me more pleasure, so did the verses, they are fine, than I have time to write about.”

1. Conjecturally dated based on EBB’s use of the signature, “E. B. Barrett” (a signature which she used in letters to Kenyon only for one letter in 1837, letter 595, and for ten in 1838), and on her reference to Kenyon’s verses (a topic in five letters in 1838 and one, letter 959, in 1842).
