1. It is possible, in view of Horne’s docket, that this is the envelope for letter 789, as EBB speaks therein of a “rough sketch … thrown on paper”. A doubt remains, however, as the Torquay postmark of 21 January was a Thursday, whereas the conclusion of letter 789 is headed “Tuesday” and it would have been uncharacteristic for EBB to have held back the letter before posting.

2. This outline, together with other materials relating to “Psyche Apocalypté,” formed part of lot 122 in Browning Collections (see Reconstruction, D754). It was included in the article on the genesis of the projected drama in The St. James’s Magazine and United Empire Review, February 1876 (II, 478–492); the material is now at ABL.
