To Miss Ba on entering her teens.

Now be my strain a sisters birth to greet,

While tears & sighs lay humbly at thy feet,

Let not fierce anger, rage, or fear, depress

Nor the long day by passions be oppressed;

But may this day by nought but joy be blest

And nought but joy the happy hours invest

Till tired with fun and quite o’ercome by play

Papa says go to bed must I away?
