[Venice—Monday, 16 December 1889]

RBB got telegram from Master of Balliol Jowett, asking if the remains of Mrs. Browning could not be removed to Westminster Abbey.– But he has not recd a telegram wh. the Times said the Queen had sent. All arrangements are made for the departure of the remains of Mr. Browning tomorrow night—expecting the ceremony at the Abbey for next Monday, 23d Dec. which to us seems dangerously short allowance, besides which, a larger part of Mr Browning’s friends will be in the country for Xmas– Perhaps on this account they may defer it.
