My cold is better, in spite of my wet drive yesterday. Reading Plato De Legibus—but read nothing very fine.
No letter. I hear that the fields;—all the fields, & grounds, are on the verge of being let, & that the taker & his wife are going to live at the farm!! May God bless my dear dear Papa! That is all my commentary. If resignation is possible to him, it shd. be easy to us!—
Went out in the cold & against my will!— Arabel & I have agreed to say nothing about the subscription plan—but to buy a scrap book for Annie!— The difficulty is only one—we have no money—which is a less difficulty than the subscription plan threatens. How cd. Annie be so inconsiderate. I am inconsiderate enough: but I never cd. have thought of doing such a thing!—
