Monday. Jany. 9th.

Papa has made today another holiday. Out of spirits this morning—& feeling disinclined to read Æschylus or do anything in the way of Greek. Prayed for help from God: and He in answer to prayer, has often made me happy when all other resources seemed shut against me. Surely I shd. trust Him.

Wrote my poem on the cholera. I think I like it, & shall send it to the Times tomorrow. I wonder if, tomorrow, I shall hear from or about Mr. Boyd, or about us. I wish I were more comfortable.
