[Florence—Wednesday, 8 February 1860]

Wednesday 8th Miss Blagden called at 12 o’clock and drove with us to her home on Bello Sguardo. How we enjoyed her brilliant talk and pictures of her Villa life. Such sun-sets and such moons, such renewing of life’s mornings as seen from her home she needed not to describe. It entered in and took possession of my soul. Such a nature of robust and glorious, nay lavish expansion breathes new life over mine and a prayer flows out that Charity shall enter in and dwell with me.

We went in to the Casa Guidi to see Mr Browning’s studio and I walked up & down her bed-room!
