Sunday 27th Mr Bennett came to breakfast. He passed the entire morning, talking charmingly about books &c &c. I hardly know a more kindly generous nature than his.

We were to have dined at Greenwich with Thackeray but he was taken ill. A little note came from his daughter to tell us.
