Christmas Day warm and fair—the tree a grand success—about 30 children and 20 grown folks. Mother danced the “country dance” and seemed wonderfully well. Jamie was Santa Claus.

The Ladies’ Club, the Thursday Club, the Dante Club are all in full swing, also Mrs Dorr’s dinners. It is easier to go out every other evening than to get the chance of staying in.

Mr Higginson told J.T.F. yesterday that Miss Haws was very clever but she had so good an opinion of herself that she would not hesitate to eat the solar system as if it were a cake.
