Louise’s baby was christened, he weighed 22 pounds and was as much as the father could carry. Dr Gannett’s service was most impressive.

Club at Mrs Andrews. Mrs Howe read a clever vulgar salutatory at which every body laughed outwardly and were ashamed inwardly. She talked of our senator & representative as “chunchy Hooper & Grim Sumner.”

Dr Holmes read exquisitely “To Canaan” and Willson’s poem the “Old Color Sergeant.”
