Sunday. Reading Scott’s Plato, Gibbon’s Memoirs, Joubert’s ditto writing not at all except a few letters.

Mr Beecher went to Thursday afternoon concert and said Lissie’s pictures looked as if her subjects were kept on Lenten fare. The pictures were sure to have got here safe because the fishes would not eat such folks.
