[Boston—Wednesday, 10 April 1867]

April. 10th We were right glad to get home, but there was not much cessation of excitement, for Sunday we received ourselves and Tuesday J. was obliged to return to N.Y. again on business.

Lissie and I went out of town to see dear Mrs Putnam but missing her and staying to have a good chat with her daughter and a young friend, today she came to bring me quantities of exquisite crocuses.

Met Gail Hamilton in a store with dress all awry but her dear affectionate face as radiant as ever, but her mother is very ill.
