[Boston—Sunday, 21 April 1867]

Sunday April 21st Mr Longfellow & Mr Greene dined with us last Thursday and Miss Putnam & Miss Sohier & Charlie Lowell came to tea. J.F. Clarke came in the evening. It was truly a delightful day.

Friday the new soldiers monument was dedicated at Concord and we all hoped to go—but J. was too busy, I was too tired and Miss Clarke missed the train. Instead I went to sit to Lissie in the afternoon who is getting a successful portrait.

Saturday getting the garden under way and sitting again to Lissie.

Today walked to Roxbury to hear Dr. Putnam.

Easter Sunday—and the air was filled with the music of the resurrection, how much better than what the churches contain, a calm was in the air and in the sermon and in our hearts.
