[Boston—Saturday, 17 April 1869]

Saturday April 17. Weather wild at times but full of Spring—the night radiant with stars.

We begin to feel that our home hours are short.

Mrs Quincy made a beautiful dinner for us Friday.

Eliza Stowe passed the night here. French lessons came happily to an end. Packing and arrangements must fill this week. The wind raves today.
