[Lungern—Thursday, 12 August 1869]

Thursday 12th August. Lovely morning. Walked away from Lungern towards Lucerne—carriage following. Beautiful journey, reached the lake soon after midday. Met more Americans en route than we had seen since we left America—Lorriner Goshen among others who startled us the next morning before we were up by sending a telegram of greeting since he could not shake hands with us. Dresel & family and many others are here.
